BIRTDAY PARTY OF MINISTER
Himachal Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh should be complimented for his instant seeking resignation of his Minister for Transport & Tourism GS Bali as soon as a TV channel (Star News) telecast a video-film of minister’s birthday-party taken by a hidden camera where the minister was seen enjoying his birthday-party in presence of call-girls. Channel also showed scenes of another expensive party to celebrate his birthday with general people and Chief Minister.
Things will go on worsening till political leaders adopt austerity in personal lives. It has become an unholy fashion to spend lavishly on birthdays of politicians by organising parties, giving newspaper-advertisements and putting banners, posters and hoardings to offer ‘congratulations’ by ‘well-wishers’. Race in exhibiting closeness with the politician by spending on his/her birthday is in fact to gain favours from the birthday-celebrity. There must be a complete ban on celebrating birthdays of living persons seated on political or ruling posts. Any such celebration by others may be taken as bribe to gain favour from the birthday-celebrity.
